About Tourmaline: Tourmaline is the name given to a family of semi-precious gemstones made from varying compositions, but all made up of the same crystal structure. Most commonly found in black, the tourmaline is available in a wide range of colours from reds and oranges to blues and greens, and can also be bi-coloured or tri-coloured. They generally form pencil-like prisms with a rounded triangular cross-section and are resistant to weathering. We offer this gemstone in pink or green, these are the two colours the tourmaline is most known for.

What is the meaning of Tourmaline? Tourmalines have different meanings depending on their colour. The pink tourmaline represents love and humanity, gentleness and compassion - it's a heart protector. Green tourmaline is a heart healer, moving energy and bringing strength to the wearer.

What is the history of Tourmaline? Somewhere in Brazil during the 1500's the first tourmaline was discovered, although confused with an emerald at the time due to its vibrant colour. It wasn’t until the 1800's when scientists recognised tourmaline as a distinct mineral.

The tourmaline was sometimes called the "Ceylonese Sri Lankan Magnet" because of its pyroelectric properties that allowed it to attract and then repel hot ashes.

What is the provenance/traceability of Tourmaline? We are currently working through traceability and the supply chain of these beautiful stones, watch this space.
