An ardent fan of rock music and a practising Buddhist, Nell’s unique visual language combines religious, philosophical, and musical iconographies to create playful artworks that provoke an exploration of the human condition. Her signature aesthetic is defined by recurring symbols and words that communicate both the joys and sorrows of existence. Themes are often investigated in opposites (yin-yang) – life and death, light and dark, fragility and strength. Popular motifs that surface across her artworks include ghosts, headstones, smiley faces, lightning bolts, and shells – symbols and everyday meditations, now reimagined by MEADOWLARK’S artisanal craftsmanship to create a collection of collectable necklaces, charms, earrings and rings.
