Emma & Nick

When Emma and Nick, the visionary duo behind the beloved Karangahape Road institution, Celeste (RIP), approached us to create a bespoke engagement ring, they brought with them a clear vision: something timeless, bold, and deeply personal. With green as the guiding colour, we collaborated on a design that centres around an ethically sourced sapphire, flanked by round brilliant cut white diamonds. The result is a piece that is as beautiful and resilient as the bond it celebrates.

How did you meet?

We met the old school way... in line for a club. At least it was in Paris, so a little bit romantic? It was the middle of winter and absolutely freezing. We’d been waiting for ages when the bouncer said they weren’t letting anyone else in, and a bunch of people started to leave. I turned to my friends and said, Should we go?, and this English voice behind me said - They’re bluffing. He was right. Thanks to everyone who gave up, we got in shortly after. The rest is history.

What do you love most about each other?

Having a strong partnership that runs deep - built on shared values, a similar sense of humour, and a love of good food.

What does love mean to you?

Being able to be completely yourself and feeling fully supported in that. Just knowing you’ve got each other, no matter what.

Tell us about your bespoke engagement ring journey – why did you choose Meadowlark and what was your experience bringing your ring to life?

We loved getting to visit the Meadowlark studio and see where it all happens. I was originally set on an emerald, but after chatting with Claire, I took her advice and went with a green sapphire instead. She found the most beautiful stone with exactly the tone I had in mind. We designed the ring together, which made it feel really personal, but Nick still managed to surprise me with a proposal and engagement party right after. It was the perfect mix of planning and spontaneity, and such a special way to celebrate with all our favourite people.
