Libra season brings out an appreciation for beauty. Ruled by Venus, this is the sign of excellent taste and the pleasure of lovely things: a perfectly refined outfit, a visual feast of a film, listening to a piece of music that lands just right. But Libra’s eye for beauty isn't just decorative, it's about proportion and harmony. It’s highbrow, noticing when something is well made, or well composed.

The very end of September is restful, so enjoy the lull while it lasts, because from here through to early next  year, the personal planets are almost constantly retrograde.

Venus, the ruler of this season, is the major headline. She turns retrograde in the depths of Scorpio, and everything Libra cares about, our relationships, our sense of balance, what we value, and how we value ourselves, comes up for a deeply honest review.

The Sun Moves Into Libra

The equinox arrives with the Sun's move into Libra, bringing the Libra scales into balance. Day and night sit at equal length before the light begins to shift. Down here in the southern hemisphere, that's a natural cue for spring cleaning, clearing out whatever's cluttered to make room for new growth, and because it’s Libra season, making everything more beautiful. Up north, it's the start of cosying up. Wherever you are, this is a good moment to consciously release whatever you don't want to carry into the new season.

26th September

The Sun in Libra faces off with Neptune in Aries today, while flowing easily to Pluto in Aquarius. Idealism and reality can face off, and it might be tempting to see a situation through rose coloured glasses when a clearer look is what's really needed. The Sun's easy connection to Pluto offers some real depth and resolve, if you're willing to look honestly at whatever needs transforming.

27th September

Full Moon in Aries

This full moon meets Neptune in Aries directly and is ruled by Mars, currently sitting in sensitive, reactive Cancer. Full moons usually bring a sense of illumination, but with Neptune this close, don't expect total clarity today. If anything feels foggy, sensitive, or overwhelming, it isn't you. Hold off on any big decisions until things settle. Given a little time, this haze tends to clear into something closer to inspired, independent action, so where you can, wait for that clarity rather than forcing a call now.

28th September

Mars moves into bold, creative Leo today. If something's been building since eclipse season, this is often where the pruning that led to growth starts to show its results. If you're a parent, this can bring some kind of progress with your kids, though it might also stir up some short tempers along the way. Meanwhile the Sun in Libra flows easily with Uranus in Gemini, a lovely combination for innovative ideas and thinking and honest negotiations. Any mental chaos you've been sitting with has potential to be refined into something brilliant today.

1st October

Mercury moves into Scorpio. Expect deeper, more probing thinking, just try not to let it tip into obsessive over analysis. Not everything has to be complicated all the time. The same day, Mercury in Scorpio comes into some dynamic tension with Mars in Leo. You and someone else may be pulling toward very different goals, but this friction is more productive than it feels, and it can push both of you toward proper solutions rather than staying stuck.

2nd October

Mars in Leo flows powerfully to Neptune in Aries today, and because it's a trine between two fire signs, there's a lot of energy behind it. Expect a surge of creative fire and intuitive drive. If inspiration strikes, follow it. Start the creative project, or say yes to a spontaneous idea rather than overthinking it.

3rd October

Mercury in Scorpio comes into dynamic tension with Pluto in Aquarius, while Mars in Leo faces off with Pluto too. This can go one of two ways. Yesterday's creative fire might return, backed by a real sense of empowerment. Or today could feel tense, rigid, even stuck. If it's the latter, lean into some grounding, Taurus flavoured comfort, get outside, cook something nourishing, or run a bath.

4th October

Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio today, and this is the headline of the season. Over the coming weeks, expect a deep review of where you devote your emotional and physical resources. Don't be surprised if some hard truths surface along the way, particularly around relationships. Scorpio has a way of bringing things to light, and with Venus, this will be about money and closeness, so don't be surprised if something long buried finds its way into the open. 

The Sun in Libra also faces off with Saturn in Aries today, which can feel like your own personal responsibilities pulling against a collective need for harmony or generosity toward others. Neither side is wrong, it's simply worth noticing which one you're leaning on too heavily.

Meanwhile Mars in Leo flows, with a little effort, to Uranus in Gemini, offering support for your drive toward unique ideas and innovation. If money or a relationship is on your mind, today is a good day to open things up and have the initial conversation.

10th October

Mars in Leo comes into dynamic tension with retrograde Venus in Scorpio. Expect things to feel tense relationally today, and don't be surprised if you, or someone close to you, is feeling particularly stubborn. If tempers flare, try coming back to the topic at hand later, once you’ve cooled off and can see things more rationally.

New Moon in Libra

This new moon lands against the backdrop of yesterday's tense Mars-Venus connection, and Venus, currently retrograde, rules it. Rather than setting bold new intentions, this is a moment to properly take stock. How are your relationships going? Are they fair and balanced? Is one party giving more than they are receiving, or vice versa? Do you have a shared value system?

Let this new moon be reflective, and to inspire important conversations, rather than forward charging.

14th October

The Sun in Libra flows, with a little effort, to Jupiter in Leo. This is a warm, expansive, joyful sort of day, open to good news and generous connection. Say yes to an invitation, or plan something fun yourself.

16th October

Mars in Leo flows to Saturn in Aries today. This is  a combination of hard, self led work that could genuinely pay off. If the results aren't instant, don't let that put you off. The reward for this kind of effort tends to be more of a slow burn, but it does arrive eventually. If there’s a task or project you’ve been putting off because it feels too hard, today is a good day to get out of your own way, and get moving.

19th October

Retrograde Venus in Scorpio comes into dynamic tension with Pluto in Aquarius, stirring up questions of money and/or relationships against a backdrop of power. At the same time, the Sun in Libra flows to the North Node in Aquarius and, with a little more effort, to the South Node in Leo, sending a wave of harmony and balance. This may help soften the Venus-Pluto tension of the day, and support us in moving towards more harmony as a collective, and moving us away from ego or selfishness. Personally, this is a good day to choose generosity over control.
