Inspired by Syria’s ‘Cult of the Dead’, the secret corridor leads to underground chambers where the ritual of the living dining with the dead takes place. The ritual ties the living with the dead together in a relationship of mutual dependence. The dead requiring food and drink, the living needing the blessings and guidance of ancestors in times of hardship and war.
